Takashi Tomii is a wood artist whose "Kuri Rim Plate," combining high usability with a rugged aesthetic, is a perennial favorite at our shop.
This is his first solo exhibition at FFT, and I'm sure many of you have been looking forward to it.

This time, titled "Atomos," we will introduce the artist's craftsmanship in a broad and systematic way.

For those unfamiliar with him, let me briefly introduce him. From my (the owner's) perspective, Mr. Tomii, while a wood artist, is like a philosopher who reveals an answer to one of the reasons for our existence through his works and way of life.

When I talk with Mr. Tomii, I am always reminded of our respect for nature and that we are a part of it. That every tiny existence, every minute detail, has value. When you expand your perspective to the atomic level, there is ultimately no big or small; all are the same. It feels like a positive light ignites in a weary heart. One feels the preciousness of the continuously circulating cycle of existence.

When Mr. Tomii talks about his work, he says that the work is completed when users continue to use it and serve food on it. There are no physical or temporal boundaries; the creator, the user, and nature are all connected, nurturing the work carefully throughout a lifetime. It's as if he is expounding the ultimate way to enjoy wood.

Mr. Tomii is intelligent and generous, and this is likely due to his studies in physics in graduate school, where he thoroughly understood the composition of matter. Each of his words, which are never difficult to understand, is sprinkled with hints for living a joyful life. This is exactly what I wanted to express with "FOOD FOR THOUGHT."

His works are not just for art's sake, but rather to feel nature more naturally and intimately.
A step towards a richer life begins by owning one of Mr. Tomii's works.

To enjoy Mr. Tomii's works even more, listening directly to him is the best way!
So, for this exhibition, Mr. Tomii will come to Uehara, and we will hold a reserved artist talk.
Limited to 6 people per session, you can sit down and listen carefully to his stories about craftsmanship while enjoying sweets from Niigata, the artist's hometown.
After a Q&A session, we plan to have a shopping time for about 30 minutes in the latter half.

Everyone is captivated by Mr. Tomii's stories. He seems to have an answer for everything. Please feel free to ask him about everything from his work to life itself. Personally, I would also like restaurant owners to attend. Not only do the dishes look good, but vessels with philosophy are truly excellent. They will also provide many conversation starters with customers and become a strong ally.

The artist talk is a great value at 550 yen (tax included) per person. We look forward to your reservations!

For those who unfortunately could not make a reservation, Mr. Tomii will be at the shop until closing on the first day. Please enjoy choosing your work while receiving direct advice.

All our staff sincerely look forward to your visit. (Igarashi)
