Tetsuhiro Iwata is one of the most promising young artists today.
This will be his first solo exhibition at our store in a year.

Over the past year, Mr. Iwata's works have become even more difficult to obtain. The title of this exhibition, "to the moon," likens Mr. Iwata to something "whose popularity is rising at an incredible speed."

At the root of Mr. Iwata's craftsmanship is an "admiration for industrial products." Among them, he says he is drawn to errors that rarely occur in mass-produced items. He finds himself instinctively picking up items that have "traces" such as distortions or cracks, or those that deviate slightly from standard specifications, feeling a unique individuality in the objects themselves.

Mr. Iwata's creations, at first glance, appear as orderly and uniform as industrial products, yet one can feel the subtle touch of handcraftsmanship in the details. The "traces" that appear unintentionally are the individuality of the vessel and the artist, and one of the reasons why Mr. Iwata's works are so appealing.

Personally, each of Mr. Iwata's pieces feels like a component. Plates and cups have a complete beauty on their own, but when combined, they seem to bring out the charm of their forms even more. The way Mr. Iwata's world is constructed by assembling these components evokes the same excitement as building a plastic model. We hope you will enjoy choosing and combining the shapes yourself.

This exhibition will feature classic items such as edge plates in various sizes, coffee mugs, and tea cups & saucers, as well as items unique to this solo exhibition.

The wave of popularity is such that one could say, "Now is the time to collect the standard items." This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an artist's work, and you shouldn't miss it. By the next time you encounter them, they might have reached the moon and become unattainable. (Ishimizu)
