Many people are interested in Taiwanese and Chinese tea but feel that attending a formal class is too daunting.
Therefore, FOOD FOR THOUGHT LAB will be hosting a tea ceremony for beginners in Chinese tea, where you can learn about tea while enjoying it. We're calling it the "Taiwanese / Chinese Tea Ceremony."
The instructor will be Mariko Yamamoto, who has studied under Hsieh Hsiao-Man for many years at the "Xiaoman Tea Experience" tea house in Taipei and is currently popular for her kind personality, mainly holding her own tea ceremonies and classes. The "Taiwanese / Chinese Tea Ceremony" is a gathering that's somewhere between a tea ceremony and a class, where you can enjoy delicious tea, listen to the instructor's stories, and learn by observing their movements.
In March, she will prepare five types of tea that evoke the joy of welcoming spring and warm the heart. And the tea sweets will be provided by Haruka Tanida. Please enjoy the season-centric tea slowly while savoring nourishing and heartwarming sweets.
Ms. Yamamoto aims to offer tea that caters to one's feelings at the moment. "I do choose tea leaves according to my mood, but even with the same tea leaves, I can control the tea by how I brew it. That is an act of self-care. It feels as if the tea has become my ally."
Let's all aim to be able to brew such gentle tea together and open the door to Taiwanese and Chinese tea.
