FOOD FOR THOUGHT Uehara will hold a solo exhibition by Shigaraki potter Kodo Kiyooka from Saturday, September 16 to Tuesday, September 19.
On the first day, Saturday, September 16, entry is by reservation only until 1:00 PM.
After 1:00 PM, entry is available without a reservation.

This is Kodo Kiyooka's second solo exhibition at our store, exactly two years after his first.
Kiyooka's works are characterized by their unique glaze textures.
For example, just for green glazes, there are varieties such as olive, blue-grey, blue-grey olive, blue-grey white, and ash-white olive. Furthermore, firing them in the kiln causes changes in color each time, and even the angle of the finished piece can alter its color and texture. Such works are endlessly fascinating to look at.
Simple shapes with unique, deep colors and glaze textures. Kiyooka's pottery is unique, unlike anything else you might find.
It is said that in the past, Kiyooka's works were darker in color and featured more intense kiln changes. As he continued to create, he gradually began to produce works with lighter hues, and the kiln changes became more subtle.
This is not just about the work itself, but also about considering how it will be used. He says he is conscious of "harmonizing with the food without the pottery itself being too assertive when food is served, and allowing both the pottery and the ingredients to enhance each other."
True to his words, many customers comment that Kiyooka's works "make the food look exquisite."
Even with the same glaze and shape, you are sure to see different expressions in this exhibition compared to the one two years ago. Please look forward to this exhibition, where you can acquire Kiyooka's unique works.
Mr. Kiyooka will also be at the store on the first day.
