"Surplus Sale"
Some of you may not be familiar with this term.
At FFT, surplus simply means:
"Dishes that are slightly outside FFT's strict inspection standards, but are still perfectly usable." You could say they are like outlet items.
At FFT, we have quite strict inspection standards for our original dishes to ensure we provide customers with the most beautiful pieces possible. We reject items with spots larger than 1mm or even barely visible scratches.
As a result, the pieces that go to our customers are very beautiful, but naturally, a small number of dishes do not meet our inspection standards and end up without a home. Of course, items with safety issues such as chips, cracks, or breaks are discarded, but there are many perfectly good pieces that, at first glance, you wouldn't be able to tell what's wrong with them.
For us, our original products are as precious as our own children. It has been heartbreaking to see pieces lose their purpose just because of a tiny 0.1mm scratch or spot. The more popular our products become, the more such pieces accumulate. In fact, 10-15% of our products are rejected before they even reach the store shelves from the kiln.
Therefore, this time, we are putting a spotlight on these homeless pieces by calling them "surplus items."
We will be offering surplus items from our "MODERN CLASSIC" series, including cafe au lait bowls and oval plates, which are always in short supply and cause inconvenience, at a whopping 40-50% discount during the two-day period!
Additionally, we will be selling other items such as pots and pans from our inventory (made by famous manufacturers), food products, cutting boards, original tableware samples (items that were planned but not commercialized), and other surprising items not mentioned here, some at up to 60% off the regular price. And of course, everything is brand new.

By the way, do you know how ceramics are disposed of? If you think they return to the soil because they're made from it, you're wrong.
Discarded ceramics do not return to the soil. They can only be landfilled. Ceramics are made using finite resources from the earth, but once fired, they are no longer biodegradable and instead require mountains to be cut away for landfill.
Pottery is often associated with eco-friendliness and sustainability, but firing kilns emits a large amount of carbon dioxide, and disposal eventually leads to cutting down mountains, which is quite a burden on the planet.
I'm not here to talk about idealism, but if we're going to pay such a heavy price, we want to create meaningful pottery, and we also simply want everyone to cherish their dishes. This "Surplus Sale" is also held with that sentiment in mind.
By holding this exhibition, we can prevent a certain number of dishes from being discarded. Customers can acquire dishes at a discounted price. I believe this is a wonderful project that is truly win-win and eco-conscious.
If you purchase items at this sale and, for example, give them as gifts to friends or use them in your home, just bringing up the aforementioned points could help raise awareness about the environment, couldn't it?

The "Surplus Sale" also has another theme: "environmental consideration." Normally, we pack our dishes very carefully to prevent breakage. From an environmental perspective, this could honestly be considered excessive, but it is necessary to prevent the dishes from breaking.
This time, for the first time, we will be using "recycled packaging materials" such as newspaper. Since we usually use a vast amount of packaging materials, we want to adopt methods that have as little impact on the environment as possible. We ask that everyone bring their own reusable bags. Paper bags are available, but they will be charged.
By minimizing packaging, we can pass on the savings to you. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

There's also one point to note regarding payment.
This time, credit cards cannot be used. We are passing on the few percent of fees that our store incurs from credit card payments to the price, offering products at the lowest possible cost.
By the way, cash, PayPay, Rakuten Pay, d払い, AliPay, LINE Pay, au pay, and other QR code payments and carrier payments are all accepted! (Transportation IC cards cannot be used.)
We appreciate your cooperation in using payment methods other than credit cards. We recommend contactless payment as we may run out of change.

And there's another important request.
During the "Surplus Sale" period, please refrain from taking photos inside or outside the store. We want every customer who visits to experience new surprises. Please also cooperate by not disclosing displayed items on social media like Instagram or blogs.

This has been a long message, but we hope you'll come and enjoy what feels like a slightly different kind of festival. No reservations are needed at any time.
All our staff look forward to your visit.
