Invitation to a Taiwanese/Chinese Tea Ceremony (Beginner's Course)
Instructor: Mariko Yamamoto
-
Many people may be interested in Taiwanese or Chinese tea but feel that attending a class is too daunting. This year, FOOD FOR THOUGHT LAB will once again hold a tea ceremony for beginners in Taiwanese/Chinese tea.
The instructor will be Mariko Yamamoto, a popular figure known for her gentle demeanor, who has studied for many years under Xie Xiaoman at "Xiao Man Tea Experience" tea house in Taipei and is now primarily active in holding her own tea ceremonies and classes.
This "Taiwanese/Chinese Tea Ceremony (Beginner's Course)" is a luxurious event where you can enjoy learning, like a blend between a tea ceremony and a class.
Across three sessions in June, September, and December, we will introduce various teas according to the season so that you can learn about the different classifications of tea. While enjoying delicious tea, you can observe and learn from the instructor's talks and movements up close.
Mariko-san aims to make tea that resonates with one's feelings at the moment. She says, "I sometimes choose tea leaves according to my mood, but even with the same tea leaves, I can control the tea by changing how I brew it. That's about taking care of yourself. It feels like the tea is on my side."
Let's aim to be able to brew such gentle tea together and open the door to Taiwanese/Chinese tea.
