*Black spots and specks may be visible due to the presence of iron, approximately 1mm or less. These are intentionally left by the artist as part of the vessel's character.
This is a small coffee mug.
Its almost square shape when viewed from the side is beautiful and reassuring.
In addition, the simple yet distinctive curve of the handle, and its delicate yet stable thinness, are exquisite.
The handle, perfectly aligned with the rim, also has excellent weight balance.
The soft milky white color blends perfectly with a cup on a dimly lit winter morning, and the potter's wheel marks visible through the rising steam are calming.

Tetsuhiro Iwata Biography
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramist Kan Ito. Became independent in 2019. As he himself says, he is attracted to "products" like industrial goods; his works may appear unadorned from a distance, but when held, one is impressed by their precise balance and the traces of handwork. The fusion of structural and concise proportions with organic handwork is reminiscent of brutalist architecture, possessing a modern quality. He is an artist highlighted by Food for Thought.
