"Hanakage" is one of Sakaida's most popular series. As the name suggests, this romantic work casts flower-like shadows on the table under a strong light source. Each piece has a gradation of pale colors at the bottom, and the way the colors are entangled in the shadows is also beautiful.
In the case of glasses, the edges are made very thin to make them more palatable, and the rims of bowls and vases are wrapped around the rims.
A large one-of-a-kind vase from the “Hanakage” series.
Mr. Sakaida says that he wants people to enjoy the shadows that are created from time to time, such as the season and time, as a beautiful element. Placed by the window, it looks beautiful depending on the time of day, such as morning light and evening light. By adding water, the glass shines even more.
The edge is clean and the mouth is wide, so Japanese flowers such as irises and daffodils also look good.
