"Hanakage" is a representative and popular series by Akie Sakaida. As the name suggests, it is a romantic piece where, under strong light, a flower-like shadow falls on the table. Each piece has a subtle color gradient at the bottom, and the way the colors intertwine with the shadow is also beautiful.

Whether it's glassware with very thin edges for a pleasant mouthfeel, or plates, bowls, and vases with rimmed edges, each piece is meticulously designed with both usability and beauty in mind.

It serves as a fruit bowl or for shaved ice, becoming the centerpiece of your summer table. The thick base provides a sense of security.

Akie Sakaida Brief Biography

Born in Akita City, Akita Prefecture in 1982
Completed the Akita Public Art and Crafts College Advanced Course in 2012
Moved to Toyama in 2012
Returned to Akita City after working at Toyama Glass Studio and established her own studio in 2017
