09 Compote Dish (White)

FFT's featured artist, potter Shintaro Enami.

He is a notable artist who, as the top apprentice to Tetsuya and Momoko Otani, gained diverse experience over five years before becoming independent from "Otani Seitojo." Enami's works feature distinctive waves (shinogi). These are all created by hand-carving, and their elegant and delicate appearance is breathtaking. His pottery wheel technique is, as expected, superb.

The new compote dish,
With its rust-like appearance, it evokes ancient ritual vessels and antique footed objects, while its bold simplification of form gives it a sense of modern sculpture.

It's perfect for casually arranging persimmons, grapes, or figs, or for serving a small amount of ham and cheese, leaving some empty space. It's also recommended for casually serving bread or baked goods. In particular, when serving irregularly shaped fruits like grapes and figs, which are in season from now on, the waves of the vessel become even more prominent.

This is the first unveiling of this work. Please pay close attention.

As these are artisan works, there may be individual differences in glaze, color, and size.

【Handling Instructions】
This pottery is absorbent, so its texture will change with the moisture and oil from food. Since it is prone to staining, it is recommended to avoid dark-colored dishes until the oil has fully permeated the entire surface. As you use it, it will develop more character, and we hope you enjoy this transformation. If you are concerned, try soaking it in water for about 10 minutes before use. This will help prevent staining and odors to some extent, allowing it to gradually mature.
