White porcelain flat lidded vessel
Sumire Akita's works are delicate, intricate, and somewhat ephemeral, yet they also evoke a romantic sense of revisiting the past. By reinterpreting old Karatsu ware from a contemporary perspective, she creates pieces that seem to extract the core of its rustic beauty. While retaining the dignified atmosphere of old Karatsu, her works achieve a sharp and modern finish. The strong sense of presence felt in each individual piece is consistently maintained throughout all her works when viewed collectively, with no contradictions whatsoever.
