Yuka Owada, a popular artist from FOOD FOR THOUGHT's popular projects "Shichigosan Exhibition" and "Iro no Utsuwa Exhibition," will finally hold her first solo exhibition at our store, a long-cherished dream.
I always felt that Ms. Owada's works should be viewed as a whole, rather than as individual pieces.
She doesn't create haphazardly; instead, she develops series of works based on carefully thought-out concepts, imbuing them with life. The ability to view one's own work from a broad perspective is a sign of a superior artist, regardless of genre.
Each series is delicate and elegant, with charming feminine and organic curves. Her technique is exceptionally high, and her works are meticulously crafted with no flaws. Due to her high technical skill, Ms. Owada's works have the power to immerse the viewer.
Even her pots and standing pieces, which are built on a delicate and edgy balance, surprisingly feel completely stable when used, perhaps due to optimized weight distribution.
Ms. Owada's colored vessels, created through her control of glazes, are also wonderful.
Each:
- Velvet
- Deep Green Glaze
- Pale Cherry Blossom
- White-blue
- Moonlight
They are given captivating names that encourage us to imagine, "What kind of expression do they have?" From here, the communication between Ms. Owada's work and its user already begins.
Incidentally, all of Ms. Owada's works look as if they "could start moving at any moment," as if they have a life of their own. This impression is embodied in the visual for this solo exhibition. We tried to capture a scene where the works spontaneously started a tea party on a table without a user.
Please also check out the exhibition poster displayed at the Uehara store!
In any case, we will have a collection of works that are sure to be the best partners for spring! I am confident that they will deeply resonate with FFT customers.
All of us at the Uehara store sincerely look forward to your visit.
