Shintaro Enami, a ceramist and artist receiving a lot of attention, is an emerging artist who just became independent from "Ohtani Seito" in April this year, after accumulating five years of diverse experience as the top apprentice of Tetsuya and Momoko Ohtani. We are thrilled that he has participated in this exhibition for the first time, a long-cherished wish!

Enami's works feature distinctive flowing 'shinogi' (fluting) patterns. All are hand-carved, and their elegant and intricate expressions are truly breathtaking. His pottery wheel techniques are, as expected, superb.

The pieces are light and fit comfortably in hand, with excellent weight balance. While possessing sophisticated forms, the works, imbued with the soft expressions of curves, seem to embody the aroma of coffee and will surely lead your coffee breaks to a richer experience.

Since this pottery is absorbent, its texture will change with the moisture and oil from food. It is prone to staining, so we recommend avoiding intensely colored dishes until the entire piece has absorbed oil. As you use it more, it will develop a richer character, and we hope you enjoy this transformation. If you are concerned, try soaking it in water for about 10 minutes before use. This will help prevent staining and odors to some extent, and allow the piece to slowly develop its character.
