Tetsuhiro Iwata Biography
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramist Kan Ito. Became independent in 2019. As he himself says, he is drawn to "products" like industrial goods, and his works may appear indifferent from a distance, but when held, one is moved by their intricate balance and traces of handwork. The fusion of structural and concise proportions with organic handwork evokes the modernity of Brutalist architecture. He is an artist of note at Food for Thought.
