Mr. Inoue, who creates pottery in his hometown of Tokoname, Aichi, is an artist who values using "earth," a gift from the land, in as natural a state as possible. To preserve the flavor of the earth, he creates Mishima, Kohiki, and ash-glazed pottery from raw clay and earth he has dug himself.
