11 Edge Plate, 7-sun

Sale price₩97,000 KRW

*Black spots and blemishes may be present due to the appearance of iron content of 1mm or less. This is an intentional aesthetic choice by the artist, left as part of the vessel's character.

Now, when it comes to Mr. Iwata's true forte, it is his solid pottery wheel skills, honed under the tutelage of Kan Ito, and his own three-dimensional compositional ability. At first glance, his works might seem uniform and industrial, but a closer look reveals strong, roughly left traces of handiwork and abundant edgy designs. The balance between roundness and hardness is modern, architectural, and fashionable. The more you look at his works, the more you see the flexible and ambitious mind of the artist, which is truly enjoyable.

Perhaps it's because of the strong foundation of his technical skills. Their compatibility with food and usability are also guaranteed.

Our director, Yuko Watanabe, frequently uses Mr. Iwata's edge plates, both for work and in her private life.

The 7-inch size is perfect for a main dish at home. A staple for Western cuisine.

Tetsuhiro Iwata Brief Biography
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramic artist Kan Ito. Became independent in 2019. As he himself states, he is drawn to "products" that resemble industrial goods. From a distance, his works may appear unadorned, but when held, one is impressed by their exquisite balance and the traces of handiwork. The fusion of constructive, concise proportions and organic handiwork creates a modern sensibility reminiscent of Brutalist architecture. He is an artist gaining attention from Food for Thought.
