Hajime Onose is an artist whose reputation precedes him, primarily in the world of planters for caudex plants and bonsai.

He is a popular artist who has broken numerous records at FFT exhibitions. This will be his second solo exhibition, the first in two years. Onose's works are highly popular nationwide, but in the Kanto region, sales are particularly low, making it extremely rare to see a large collection of his works in person at a store.

Featuring a constricted waist and a bottom-heavy proportion, the form possesses both stability and the ambiance of ancient Japanese architecture. It is truly beautiful.

The long, perfectly crafted "shinogi" (ridges) are particularly eye-catching.

Hajime Onose / Profile

Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1982.
While working under a potter in Kasama, he self-taught ceramics and established his studio in 2018.
His stylish planters are extremely difficult to acquire. Coming from a technical college background, his craftsmanship emphasizes functionality. The vessels he creates, while flexibly incorporating user feedback, truly reveal their excellence through actual use. The "shinogi" (ridges), which showcase his incredible skill, are influenced by the architecture of temples in ancient Western ruins.
