Tetsuhiro Iwata - Brief Biography
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramist Kan Ito. Became independent in 2019. As he says, he is drawn to "products" like industrial goods; his works may appear unadorned from a distance, but when held, one is moved by their precise balance and the traces of handcraft. The fusion of constructive, concise proportions and organic handwork evokes the modernity of Brutalist architecture. He is an artist to watch at Food For Thought.
