This pottery is absorbent, so its appearance will change with exposure to moisture and oils from food. As it is prone to staining, we recommend avoiding dark-colored dishes until the entire surface has absorbed some oil. The more you use it, the more character it develops, so we hope you enjoy this transformation. If you are concerned, try soaking it in water for about 10 minutes before use. This will help prevent staining and odors to some extent, allowing it to slowly mature.
