"Yamato Kobayashi Exhibition" to be held at the Uehara store from November 25th (Sat) to 28th (Tue)!

From 11/25 (Sat) - 28 (Tue), FOOD FOR THOUGHT Uehara will be holding the "Yamato Kobayashi Exhibition".

Yamato Kobayashi has been with FOOD FOR THOUGHT since we first opened. He has become an undeniably popular artist.

He uses three types of glazes: kohiki, ash glaze, and black glaze. All of them are traditional glazes that have been used for a long time. The shapes are simple, easy to use, and look orthodox at first glance, but his works have an originality that makes them instantly recognizable as "Kobayashi's" once you see them. We are captivated by his attention to detail and his meticulous craftsmanship.

He says, "I create vessels purely as tools for serving food." While his works are so natural that users don't feel the trace of his tireless efforts, they are also meticulously crafted with great care and attention to detail.

The sizes are perfectly uniform. The weight distribution is also perfect, providing beautiful stability when stacked.

Even when you try to buy more of the same vessel at a different exhibition, the color and shape will match. While this is, of course, a happy thing for fans, it is not always a given for handmade artisan pieces.

The glaze is applied uniformly over the entire vessel, even to the bottom of the foot. This requires an extra step for grinding after firing, but Kobayashi never cuts corners, saying, "I think it's more beautiful that way."

His vessels are carefully made in an unchanging style, not swayed by trends. They will surely become a staple in your home for many years to come.
