The second exhibition, "Exhibition of Colored Vessels," will be held at the Uehara store from Saturday, January 21st to Tuesday, January 24th, 2023.
We refer to the freedom and individuality of the creators and their works as "color."
Ceramics and glass are mediums freely chosen by the creators.
They then freely select their methods of expression from a multitude of options.
I believe again that the works handled at FFT are an art of choice, rooted in freedom.
To borrow Erich Fromm's words, freedom comes with stinging loneliness and heavy responsibility.
It is human nature to succumb to that weight, abandon freedom, and lose oneself in the whole. As an artist myself, I, the shop owner, know well the agony of freedom slowly strangling me like floss during the creative process.
That is precisely why I respect creators who confront "freedom" head-on with their chosen expression, and why I want to work with them.
For this second exhibition, we carefully considered and asked four creators to participate: three ceramists who are masters at incorporating glaze changes into their style, and one glass artist. Each will color the ink-black canvas of the Uehara store with expressions they have honed daily.
This time, we are delighted to have the popular glass artist Takara Kinoshita, for whom we have received many requests to feature, participate for the first time. Ms. Kinoshita will be exploring various expressions using "recycled glass" works. The raw glass materials were actually collected by our director, Yuko Watanabe!
The entire staff looks forward to welcoming you!
