"Hanakage" is a representative and popular series by Sakata. As the name suggests, it is a romantic piece where, under strong light, a flower-like shadow falls on the table. Each piece features a delicate color gradient at the bottom, and the way the colors entwine with the shadow is also beautiful.

For items like glasses, the rim is made very thin for a pleasant mouthfeel, and for plates, bowls, and vases, the rim is rolled. Each piece is meticulously designed with both usability and beauty in mind.

With a capacity of about 130ml, it is ideal as a water glass for the dining table.

Aki Sakata Biography

Born in Akita City, Akita Prefecture in 1982
Completed graduate studies at Akita Public Art & Crafts Junior College in 2012
Moved to Toyama in 2012
Returned to Akita City in 2017 after working at Toyama Glass Studio and established own studio
