APOTHECARY soap

This is a "Soap" from the FOOD FOR THOUGHT APOTHECARY series.

This soap is made in Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture, using a very laborious "frame kneading method" with only 100% locally sourced Kumamoto horse oil, repeatedly refined for safety.

There are two manufacturing methods for soap: frame kneading and machine kneading. Mass-produced items you see in drugstores are basically machine-kneaded. These are made by mixing ingredients with a machine, then compressing and molding them, allowing for quick production. While they are inexpensive, look good, and lather well, they also soften quickly in water. The strong alkalinity can leave some people's skin feeling tight or tingly. Those with sensitive skin, babies, or people with atopic dermatitis may hesitate to use them due to their harshness.

In contrast, FOOD FOR THOUGHT APOTHECARY soap is made by frame kneading. In this method, liquid ingredients are poured into a frame, cooled, solidified, and then cut. After that, they are dried and aged for several months to harden. This makes the soap less likely to soften even when left in a humid bathroom, maintaining its solid state. The long curing period neutralizes the alkalinity, and the generous amount of horse oil used leaves the skin feeling moist and gentle after washing, without tightness or tingling.

It's safe even for babies and people with atopic dermatitis. A FOOD FOR THOUGHT staff member reportedly uses this soap to wash everything from their baby's body to their hair.

Horse oil has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, and is known to reduce heat. In ancient times, it was used as a folk medicine for wounds, skin rashes, sunburns, and burns.

Because horse oil is not a mineral-derived oil and is completely harmless, it is also prescribed as a treatment for atopic dermatitis and acne. FOOD FOR THOUGHT's soap is a gentle product that generously uses such horse oil. It can be used with confidence by babies, children, and those with sensitive skin.
