Mimosa Ash-Glazed 6-Sun Deep Bowl

Mimosa glaze is a series of works by Michikazu Sakai that receives many inquiries. When Mr. Michikazu was still making pottery in Nagano, he reportedly regularly fired glazes made from nearby apple wood ash and chestnut wood ash. After moving to Kagawa, he collects ash from the many mimosa trees planted in the kiln area to make his glazes.

A 6-sun deep bowl perfect for any dish, whether Japanese or Western.

The mimosa glaze, which you can enjoy as it develops crazing over time, will become a piece you reach for daily, whether at home, in a cafe, or in a restaurant.

1975 Born in Nagano Prefecture
1995 Bizen Ceramics Center, Okayama Prefecture
1996 Studied under Bizen ware artist Satoru Masamune
1998 Built an anagama kiln in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture
2016 Moved to Kagawa Prefecture and built an anagama kiln and a downdraft kiln
