The katakuchi (spouted bowl) can be used as a chahai (serving pitcher) for Chinese tea, to equalize the strength of the tea before pouring into cups, or as a yumashii (hot water cooler) for Japanese tea.
Of course, it would also be great as a sake server or for serving sauces and dressings at the table.

Because this ceramic is absorbent, its texture will change over time with moisture and oil from food. Since it is prone to staining, we recommend avoiding deeply colored dishes until the entire piece has absorbed oil. The more it is used, the more character it will develop, so we hope you enjoy this transformation. If you are concerned, try soaking it in water for about 10 minutes before use. This will help prevent staining and odors to some extent, allowing it to slowly develop its unique character.
