Tomoko Sakai is an artist who primarily creates smooth and soft white ceramic works using only porcelain clay, while also enthusiastically producing ambitious pieces that leverage the layered texture of soil with mud-glaze.

This series features a distinctive design with dots along the rim, acting as a superb frame for food on the dining table. It's a versatile size for serving small dishes, salads, or fruits.

The impressive form, once seen, is unforgettable and also recommended for restaurants. The stacked pieces are also beautiful.

Tomoko Sakai - Brief Biography
1970 Born in Kagawa Prefecture
1992 While working for a company, her hobby was walking in the satoyama (rural landscapes). She coincidentally encountered an anagama kiln in the mountains, sought out its owner, and was allowed to use the potter's wheel once a week, marking her encounter with clay.
1994 Enrolled in Bizen Ceramic Center
1995 Apprenticed to Shigeyoshi Morioka
1997 Built an anagama kiln in Kagawa Prefecture, producing Nanban yakishime ware.
2000 Moved to Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture, producing mainly yakishime, as well as white porcelain and kohiki ware.
2016 Moved to Kagawa Prefecture, built an anagama kiln and a downdraft kiln, producing yakishime, white porcelain, kohiki, and fire-resistant items.
