Tetsuhiro Iwata Brief Biography
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramic artist Tamaki Ito. Became independent in 2019. As the artist himself says, he is drawn to "products" like industrial goods. While his works may appear unadorned from a distance, holding them reveals a refined balance and the感動 (kandō, deep impression/emotion) of craftsmanship. The fusion of structural and concise proportions with organic handcraft evokes the modernism of Brutalist architecture. He is an artist that Food For Thought is keeping an eye on.
