Michikazu Sakai creates his works in an anagama kiln, which is characterized by strong flames and vigorous smoke flow, resulting in unique and accidental beauty. Despite the challenging environment where the firing results vary greatly depending on how the kiln is loaded and fired, his works, created through repeated trial and error, are characterized by a surprisingly crisp, high-quality finish, as he masterfully controls the firing process.
