At first glance, his works might seem uniform, almost like industrial products, but a closer look reveals strong, rough traces of handwork and a wealth of edgy designs. The balance between roundness and hardness is modern, architectural, and fashionable. The more you look at his work, the more you get a glimpse into the artist's flexible and insatiable mind, which is truly enjoyable.

Perhaps it's because his technical roots are so strong. The compatibility with food and usability are also guaranteed.

Our director, Yuko Watanabe, often uses Mr. Iwata's edge plates for both work and personal use.

The 5-sun size is perfect for side dishes and desserts. It's also recommended for those who want to try it out first.

Tetsuhiro Iwata 
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramic artist Kan Ito. Became independent in 2019. As he himself says, he is drawn to "products" like industrial goods; his works may appear uninteresting from a distance, but when held, one is moved by their precise balance and traces of handwork. The fusion of constructive, concise proportions and organic handwork is reminiscent of brutalist architecture in its modernity. He is an artist gaining attention from Food For Thought.
