「亀田大介+亀田文 展」12月6日(土)-10日(水)上原店にて開催!

"Daisuke Kameda + Aya Kameda Exhibition" will be held at our Uehara store from December 6th (Sat) to 10th (Wed)!

From December 6 (Saturday) to December 10 (Wednesday), FOOD FOR THOUGHT Uehara will be holding an exhibition of works by Daisuke Kameda and Aya Kameda, a husband-and-wife ceramicist duo who create pottery in Oita Prefecture.

Daisuke's vessels have recently gained recognition from professionals in the fashion and design industries for their stylishness. Among them, his "hakuji" (white porcelain) and "ginji" (silver porcelain) series are particularly popular at our shop.

The "hakuji" series features a rich, smooth texture created by a generous application of glaze. The gentle, subtle variations from wood-fired kilns are soothing to both the eyes and hands, bringing a sense of calm to those who use them. The vessels have a solid, substantial feel, exuding an authentic charm. White tableware, of course, becomes a central presence on the daily dining table. Daisuke's hakuji is highly recommended for everyday use.

The "ginji" series consists of incredibly elaborate pieces. Porcelain clay is molded using sand and small stones to create a unique texture, then fired, polished, and finally silver-glazed. The resulting variations in height create differences in how the silver glaze adheres, producing exquisite expressions where the silver is darker or the base material is exposed. Since the silver is directly applied and fired onto unglazed plates, the texture is matte. The "ginji" vessels subtly change over time due to reactions with oils, acids, and alkalis found in food. Please enjoy cultivating your own unique piece. We are also excited to introduce "ryuuji" (sulfur porcelain) for the first time at our shop. This series features a verdigris-like appearance created by a chemical reaction when "ginji" is placed in a "yunohana-goya" (sulfur house)! Please look forward to it.

Aya Kameda is an artist who creates delicate reliefs and forms using mold-forming techniques. She uses porcelain clay from Seto and Arita, and fires her works in gas, electric, or wood-fired kilns depending on the piece.

Her soft, airy vessels are appealing to people of all ages and are sure to be a great addition to any daily dining table.

The "tocho ningyo" (ceramic figurines), which captivated many customers at the previous exhibition, will certainly be making an appearance again. Their indescribably emotional presence makes them perfect for spending the holiday season with! The "shokudai" (candlesticks), also popular during this season, will feature an extensive lineup including silver-glazed and Raku ware. We hope both loyal fans and new customers will enjoy the exhibition.

All of us at the Uehara store sincerely look forward to welcoming you. (Haruna)
