March 14 (Sat) - March 18 (Sun): "Shigeru Inoue Exhibition" held at Uehara store!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Uehara will be holding a solo exhibition by Shigeru Inoue, a potter from Aichi Prefecture, from Saturday, March 14th to Wednesday, March 18th.

Mr. Inoue is popular for his wide range of works that make use of raw clay. He has become a staple at FFT, so many of you may already be using his pieces at home.

Mr. Inoue's pottery style emphasizes using raw clay, a blessing from the earth, in a way that minimizes human intervention, as he values the unique taste of the soil from each region. While raw clay, as it is mined from the mountains, contains many impurities and has significant disadvantages in terms of plasticity and efficiency, he works daily to create lightweight, easy-to-use "vessels for serving food" that people can pick up every day.

Mr. Inoue's vessels are perfect as a standard for Japanese dining tables, to be used every day. Yuko Watanabe, FFT director and chef, also uses them daily. It seems there is a familiarity to Mr. Inoue's vessels that makes one instinctively reach for them. His works are highly trusted by culinary professionals, and it's interesting that not only Japanese cuisine but also French chefs have recently begun to show interest.

For this solo exhibition, he will be showcasing items that are highly popular at FFT, such as ash crackle glaze, brushstrokes, and Mishima ware. In addition, his nerikomi (marbled clay) works will be unveiled for the first time at our store in Tokyo.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to find a wide selection, from household to restaurant use. This is a wonderful lineup that we encourage all soil lovers to come and see! (Haruna)
