From Saturday, July 19th to Wednesday, July 23rd, FOOD FOR THOUGHT Uehara will host a solo exhibition by wood artist Taketo Ichikawa.
Mr. Ichikawa will be at the gallery on the first day, Saturday, July 19th. This is a unique opportunity to get tips on choosing a piece. Fans, don't miss it!

Mr. Ichikawa creates his works by carefully utilizing the unique characteristics of the wood itself, such as the color gradations produced by nature, twists, and dynamic cracks.
His works feature elegant curves, delicate constrictions, and intricate forms that leave a strong impression at first sight. While the general shape is determined beforehand during creation, subtle adjustments are made as he begins carving, responding to the expressions that emerge from the wood. The beautiful proportions, meticulously calculated down to the smallest detail, bring a pleasant tension to the space.
Among Mr. Ichikawa's creations, you will find items with rare wood grain patterns. Even if he acquires a valuable log, it can be difficult to obtain long pieces if the material has grown with a twist, and it also requires highly advanced techniques to beautifully showcase the grain. Each exquisite piece, created with exceptional lathe skills, is a unique and valuable item.
His creations are made in response to the "material" before him. This, his third solo exhibition at our store, is filled with what Mr. Ichikawa "wants to express now."
In addition to practical items like his classic vases, display stands, and ring stands, we also recommend them to our customers as statement pieces to display on tables or in interiors.
