Akiko Takahashi is a ceramic artist who will be holding her first solo exhibition after I, the owner, fell in love with her work at first sight and offered her the opportunity.

Takahashi-san's main field is vases. This will be a rare exhibition for FFT, which usually features a lot of tableware. However, vases are also essential statement pieces for creating an ideal space. The sense of fulfillment in one's life changes greatly depending on whether one has a favorite vase and seasonal flowers in their space.

Especially customers in Uehara are often looking for larger vases, and I am confident that many people will agree when they encounter Takahashi-san's works and say, "Ah, this is exactly what I wanted."

Takahashi-san is an artist who creates works by hand-building, then tearing, adding texture, randomly applying glazes, and meticulously designing even the unseen parts with the best balance.

It's enjoyable to find the cryptic designs hidden within the layers of white, and when I think that each hand-mark is a layer of time the artist spent, I suddenly realize the preciousness of the work.

Of course, everything is one-of-a-kind. You will never encounter the same piece twice, and when you look at the works lined up, strangely enough, there are no similar ones. Each has its own individuality and a human-like friendliness.

In this exhibition, she has created large pieces that can boldly hold plenty of branches, as well as tabletop-sized vases that can be casually enjoyed as decorations on the dining table, in true FFT style.

I believe that Takahashi-san's works will become increasingly difficult to acquire in the future. If you like something, please get it early. They are perfect for enriching your own life a little, or as gifts for loved ones. And especially for interior professionals with projects such as accommodation facilities and restaurants, I am sure you will encounter works that will make you exclaim, "Ah!"

Since 2025, FFT has been extending the duration of solo exhibitions. In particular, you can leisurely view the works without crowds during weekdays. All our staff sincerely look forward to your visit.

Please note that FFT also offers shipping of works to your home or to the recipient of a gift. Please feel free to ask our staff (gift wrapping for Takahashi-san's works may be difficult depending on the size).
