「有永浩太 展」6/7(土)-6/15(日)上原店にて開催!

Kota Arinaga Exhibition, June 7 (Sat) - June 15 (Sun) at Uehara store!

From Saturday, June 7th to Wednesday, June 11th, FOOD FOR THOUGHT Uehara will be holding a solo exhibition by glass artist Kota Arinaga, based in Notojima, Ishikawa Prefecture.

Mr. Arinaga himself will be at the store on Saturday, June 7th, the first day of the exhibition! This is a rare opportunity to get tips on choosing pieces, so please don't miss it.

At FFT, Arinaga's works have long been a perennial favorite, from those just starting to collect pottery to connoisseurs.

Arinaga's works show viewers the fact that "glass is a liquid." The forms he creates are organic, gentle, and completely natural, giving a sense of inevitability born from the flow of circular motion. Rather than forcing the shape, you can feel from every piece that the glass settled into its form on its own, as if the glass itself was delighted. Arinaga is a master at breathing life into glass.

Each of Arinaga's works has a strong technical backbone and a clear concept, making them perfect as statement pieces for interior decoration. He is also actively exhibiting overseas, and his reputation as an artist is steadily growing, making him a noteworthy artist.

In this exhibition, in addition to standard items such as plates and bowls, there will also be items unique to a solo exhibition, such as standing pieces and one-of-a-kind items.

What's exciting is the "Nyutamagiro" series, making its debut at this exhibition.

Its organic appearance evokes the taste of antique pieces. The substantial and impactful glass is divided into milky white and clear at the top and bottom. The bottles, in particular, gather ambient light, gently diffusing and spreading it, creating a divine beauty.

Below is a quote from the artist's statement about "Nyutamagiro":
There are several theories about the origin of glass, and one of them is the theory of separation from glaze.
Inspired by this, I decided to go back in time from the perspective of glass and started with the glass composition.
I thought there might be new discoveries if I blew with a material somewhere between glass and glaze, or between glass and ceramics. I think it would be interesting to be pulled more by the material.
It's interesting because the glass doesn't obey at all.

And Arinaga's signature "netz" series will also be arriving. These works are like glass knitting, where glass is stretched, twisted, stretched again, and then formed into a shape by creating surfaces with lines. We definitely want customers in Uehara to see the astonishing precision of Arinaga's works, which further elevate the traditional techniques of Venetian glass.

All of our staff sincerely look forward to your visit.
