Codex (tuberous plant) is very popular among sensitive men. Female fans are also increasing in recent years.
It is perfect for the concept of FOOD FOR THOUGHT, which proposes things and things that make your life a little richer if you do not have them. We were also paying attention because it is relatively small and can be enjoyed on the tabletop.
Well, when it comes to enjoying the Codex, the indispensable thing is the "flowerpot". Not being particular about the flower pot is the same as not being particular about the vessel even if you make a wonderful dish. We love pottery, so we want to use the best flowerpots.
And Seichi Ono , who is making his first solo exhibition at our shop, is an artist who is highly regarded in the world of flower pots. Mr. Onose's work is very popular nationwide, but here in the Kanto region, the number of sales is particularly small, and there is no opportunity to see this many in stores.
Mr. Onose, who is a pottery maker in Ibaraki, specializes in making pots for codex and agave (by the way, our shop exhibited sake cups at the 2021 “Best Sake Exhibition” and sold out immediately!) .
The beauty of Mr. Onose's bowls can be fully conveyed visually, but when you hold them in your hands, the degree of perfection is outstanding.
At first glance, it has a strong and wild impression, but when you zoom in, you can see that the potter's wheel work and shavings that are too perfect, the hoe that is transcendentally skillful (the reason for that will be explained later), the amazing design, and the internal environment that gently wraps the plants. Well-calculated drainage. (By the way, the design is not the only purpose of the ho. It also serves as a heat sink by ensuring strength even though it is thin and by increasing the surface area to improve the heat dissipation effect!)
From architectural expressions reminiscent of Greek style, chinoiserie, chalice-shaped chalices , and peanut-shaped feminine proportions. .
There are many individuals with "cracks" on the surface, but this is a design that is put in just before drying. There is also the intention to create ventilation holes in a natural way on the sides. It is said that there are many voices from fans saying "Crack it!".
The phrase "Beauty is in the details" seems to be for Mr. Onose's work...
In fact, Mr. Onose studied under Mr. Akio Nukaga in Kasama, and his precise hoist is reminiscent of Mr. Nukaga. For those of us who respect Nukaga-san, it was a really happy connection.
The secret to its popularity is not only its aesthetics, but also its high quality in terms of practicality as a pot. There are a lot of points that writers are picky about. A little introduction:
- 3 slits and 3 grooves are provided with bottom holes arranged in consideration of water drainage
- Scraping the inside of the bowl and making it unglazed gives it breathability
- The inside is molded as straight as possible so that it can be easily pulled out even if it becomes a root ball.
- Grind to bottom heavy so that it is hard to fall down
- Glaze with reduced glass quality does not block ventilation and retains more water than non-glazed pots
It's not an exhibition specializing in "food" that we usually do, but for the various reasons mentioned above, we would like our customers who are fans of tableware to see it, and we are sure that they will be pleased! I am convinced.
Hundreds of items are available, from small items with a diameter of about 10 cm to large items of size 8. Of course it's all one point. Each one has a different expression, and you will never get the same pot again.
This time, Mr. Onose himself purchased several types of codex and agave, and after planting them, he managed to cure them until the day before and prepared several in good condition.
The implanted work will be handed over as a "work of art " with a "certificate of work" signed by the artist. Codex is also active in the secondary market, so proof of authenticity is essential.
By the way, we think orchids are perfect for Mr. Onose's bowl. I think the combination of the “Raw” textured pot and the highly humid orchid will bring out a lot of sex appeal. Especially highly saturated orchids are the best. Of course, it can also be used for other foliage plants and bonsai.

In fact, right before this solo exhibition, Mr. Onose suffered a serious injury, a ligament injury to his thumb, and is undergoing the final firing in severe pain. Due to surgery, I will not be able to make pottery for a long time. In that sense, it will be a very valuable opportunity to have the number so far this time.
Due to the extremely high popularity of the work, this time we will be accepting reservations for all days on the first day and partly on the second day . The usual 30-minute frame is now 60 minutes . You can take your time and enjoy shopping at the spacious Nishiogi store. The number of works is limited, and the artist himself aims to "deliver to as many customers as possible", so we will limit the number of purchases (details will be emailed after purchase).
Since there are many inquiries about payment methods, we will specify it, but at our store we support various payment methods such as cash, all credit cards, Paypay, D payment, auPay, Alipay, wechatpay, etc. . We also accept shipping at the store.
All the staff are waiting for your visit!
