His unique style is instantly recognizable. He creates a beautiful worldview by skillfully employing various techniques, including white slip, kōtan (aged and simple) glaze, rusty silver glaze, white porcelain, ash glaze, and enamel glaze.
Kan Ito
Born in 1971. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts, he studied under Hikaru Yamada (founder of Sodeisha) in Kyoto. After collaborating with young artists from various countries at "Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park," he returned to his hometown of Akizuki and worked on pottery with his father, Nisshi Tachibana. In 2006, he opened a kiln in Misaki, Miura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 2012, he moved to Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture.
