Gâteau Fork (France, 1900s)
A superb silver-plated item that was widely circulated in France in the mid-1900s. As its name suggests, the gâteau fork is a versatile model that can be used for a wide range of dishes, from desserts to fruits and even appetizers.
With a length of 15cm and a stable proportion, it may be the most versatile cutlery on Japanese dining tables. It's perfect for breakfast, desserts, or even as a main dish for children. It's a must-have for cafes and restaurants.
This is a rare and valuable item with an unusually slender design and the silver plate in excellent condition. Gâteau forks, which are highly popular even in France, are gradually becoming scarce in good condition. Don't miss this opportunity to get your hands on a set while they are available.

Silver Plate
Silver plate is a material that developed mainly in Europe from the late 1800s to the 1900s. It primarily consists of a nickel silver base coated with silver, and is used mainly for flatware (cutlery) and hollowware (coffee/teapots). While having a look comparable to sterling silver, it is slightly lighter and easier to maintain, which made it the most popular choice in European restaurants, hotels, and homes.
You can easily introduce a quality that is completely different from common stainless steel into your dining table. It is also dishwasher safe. Older items often feature custom knife blades, or initials of houses or hotels stamped on them, revealing details that hint at European food culture of the time, making them highly valuable culturally.

*How to use/care for silver and silver-plated products
- Wrap the cutlery in aluminum foil. Add about 1 tsp of salt or baking soda inside the foil before wrapping.
- Place it in a large pot so that the entire foil package is submerged, then pour in enough boiling water to cover it.
- Leave it for a few minutes.
When you unwrap the aluminum foil, it should be sparkling clean again.
Afterward, wash it with water and dry it thoroughly.
