silver plate

Silver plate is a material developed mainly in Europe from the late 1800s to the 1900s. It is mainly made of nickel silver with a silver coating, and is mainly used for flatware (cutlery) and hollowware (coffee/teapots). Although it looks as good as sterling silver, it is slightly lighter and easier to maintain, so it has been the most popular item in European restaurants, hotels, and homes.

You can easily incorporate a quality that is completely different from general stainless steel materials into your dining table. You can even put it in the dishwasher. Some of the old ones have custom knife blades, the initials of houses and hotels are stamped, and details that reflect the food culture of Europe at the time are scattered throughout, and they have high cultural value.

*How to use/care for silver and silver plate products

Silver and silver plate products will always darken due to oxidation as they are used. If you are concerned about it, you can restore the shine by the following method. Give it a try:
  • Wrap the cutlery in aluminum foil. Put about 1 tsp of salt or baking soda inside and wrap it.
  • Put it in a large pot that can cover all the aluminum foil, and pour boiling water over it.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes.

Open the aluminum foil and it should be shiny again.
After that, wash it with water and dry it well.
