54 Composition / Flower Vase C

Sale price$421.00 USD

*Black spots and blemishes of exposed iron under approximately 1mm may be present.
These are intentionally left by the artist as part of the vessel's character.

A highly artistic item that strongly reflects Mr. Iwata's flexible thinking.

At first glance, this vase has an unusual, somewhat futuristic presence. When actually used, its form surprisingly and quietly blends into daily life. It is an honest form where "things for viewing" and "things for using" are not separated. Through the repeated actions of touching, using, and occasionally gazing at it in everyday life, the world of the artwork gradually unfolds.

This work evokes a sense of déjà vu, as if looking at a building. There is a fresh surprise in the gap between its minimalist impression from a distance and the texture of the handiwork that becomes apparent when approached closely.

*The bottom surface is not perfectly flat, so there may be a slight wobbling when pressed by hand. This does not affect its use at all.

Diameter: Approx. 19 x 15.5cm / Height: Approx. 16.5cm
Due to being an artist's work, there are individual differences in glaze, color, and size.

*No special care is required when first using.
*After use, wash with neutral detergent and dry thoroughly.
*Cannot be used in oven, dishwasher, or microwave.
*Returns and refunds are not accepted. We ask for your understanding upon purchase.

Tetsuhiro Iwata - Brief Biography
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramic artist Kan Ito. Became independent in 2019. As he himself says, he is drawn to "products" like industrial goods; while his works may appear unadorned from a distance, holding them reveals a refined balance and traces of handiwork that are deeply impressive. The fusion of constructive, concise proportions and organic handiwork creates a modernity reminiscent of Brutalist architecture. He is an artist gaining attention from Food for Thought.
