Hanaka Kato studied under ceramic artist Naotsugu Yoshida before establishing her own studio in 2026.
Her work features clean, uncluttered forms. I find that this simplicity, seemingly born from a philosophy of subtraction, gives her pieces a remarkable sense of individuality.

Kato's works have a light, airy quality that makes them perfect for women and those new to handmade pottery.

The rim is sharp and refined, feeling smooth against the lips, ensuring excellent practicality. For those who enjoy a drink, choosing a shape you don't already own can be part of the pleasure. With its wide mouth, it can also be used as a small bowl.
