12 Edge Plate 6 Sun
*There may be black spots or specks due to the appearance of iron content of about 1mm or less. These are part of the vessel's character, intentionally left by the artist.
Now, speaking of Iwata-san's true essence, it lies in his refined pottery wheel skills, honed under the tutelage of Kan Ito, and his own three-dimensional compositional ability. At first glance, his works might seem uniform, almost like industrial products, but upon closer inspection, you'll find strong, rough traces of handiwork and plenty of edgy designs. The balance between roundness and hardness is modern, architectural, and fashionable. The more you look at his works, the more you seem to glimpse the flexible and ambitious mind of the artist, which is truly enjoyable.
Perhaps it's because of the strong foundation of his technical skills. Their compatibility with food and user-friendliness are also guaranteed.
Our director, Yuko Watanabe, often uses Iwata-san's edge plates for both work and personal use. The 6-sun size is convenient for individual servings. As the name suggests, the edges are sharply defined, casting beautiful shadows, making it an ideal vessel for plating food and taking photos.

Tetsuhiro Iwata Biography
Born in Tottori Prefecture in 1981. Studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University, then apprenticed under ceramist Kan Ito. Became independent in 2019. As he himself says, he is drawn to "products" like industrial goods; at a distance, his works may appear unadorned, but when held, one is impressed by their delicate balance and the traces of handwork. The fusion of constructive, concise proportions and organic handwork evokes the modernity of Brutalist architecture. He is an artist noteworthy to Food For Thought.
