MODERN CLASSIC Cafe au Lait Bowl M Benifuji/Wisteria
Since all processes for the "MODERN CLASSIC" series are done by hand by artisans, slight black specks of iron, pinholes, or glaze drips may remain. Just as the brocante of the 1900s we aimed for, we value the traces of handmade work, so please purchase with understanding. Any items with cracks, chips, or distortions that pose a safety issue are all rejected during inspection.

New colors are now available for FFT's popular long-selling MODERN CLASSIC series cafe au lait bowls!
This is "Benifuji / Wisteria," a pink-based color that was the most requested by our customers. This color has been used in Japan as a traditional color for a long time, but we modernized it by adding a slight dullness. The result is a sophisticated pink that isn't too sweet.
According to the "psychology of colors" using the color wheel, "Benifuji" represents "gentleness," "gratitude," and "intuition."
"Benifuji" is the closest color to human skin tone. Spending a leisurely afternoon, enjoying a cafe au lait alone. This is the kind of color you want in a vessel to be your companion during such times. "Benifuji" was the color that most naturally evoked the image of cupping the bowl with both hands and taking a deep, relaxing breath.
Its creamy tone is best suited for white or creamy-colored dishes rather than vivid ingredients.
As the psychology of colors suggests, it's about enjoying time intuitively with a gentle feeling. That's "Benifuji."
"Benifuji" goes well with natural interiors such as wooden cutlery and tables, and linen/cotton cloths. Its creamy and smoky color, which isn't stark, will give you a sense of familiarity, as if you've owned it forever.
Wooden or silver cutlery are the best match. It looks wonderful when placed on a wooden tray.
"Benifuji" is a gentle partner that will accompany your table.
⚠️The colors are deliberately applied unevenly during glazing and firing. The glaze is intentionally not made uniform to preserve the traces of human handwork. Please be aware of this beforehand if you are looking for perfectly uniform items.
◆
I believe that the cafe au lait bowls of MODERN CLASSIC have been embraced by so many people because of their clean, thin, and impeccably beautiful form.
It all started with the thought, "If there were colors, wouldn't we attract even more fans?" And we were confident that adding color to this shape would not be unrefined, but rather sophisticated.
Since FFT has a strong image of white and monotone, colorful tableware will likely appear very fresh. Precisely because we have been particular about white, the color tones have FFT's unique philosophy and essence.
There are four colors as listed below.
Each color name is also lovely. We gave both Japanese and Western names. Please enjoy calling them by either name to match the image of your dishes and table.
